Sleep, death, and the stars. Line from "A Clear Midnight" by Walt Whitman. We're singing an arrangement of that song in choir. It happens to be one of the ones we recorded. Emphasis on the word "sleep", as I am tired. Finally started my Theatre lab work. I have 7 weeks to get in 20 hours. I'm going to have to stop working on thursday afternoons to get that done. While I'm on that thought, let me stop this for a moment and leave a note for Philip.
That done, I should probably describe what I've been up to the past few weeks, as I have not posted in a while. I did get all of that stuff done. I got an A on both the history test and the history paper. Unfortunately, I got a C on the HR book report. Got a 98 on the Theatre test, an 87 on the L&C test and I still don't know what I got on the Social Psych paper. With all that done by Thursday afternoon, I went to Matt's to play D&D. We decided to take a break from the main campaign and do a mini one. We all grabbed some Lvl. 1 characters. Matt pretty much killed us off. Axel was unconscious, and Rhone decided to search his body. He found a "Cure Moderate Wounds" potion that had a note attached that said "Pour into Axel's mouth", but Rhone drank it anyway. Then he and Tim asked Matt if they could teabag Axel, and Matt gave them a -2 to both Charisma and Intelligence for asking that question. By the end, Rhone was dead, Axel and I were unconscious, and Tim was hiding behind a dead body. Fun times.
Then there was the mini tour with the choir. First stop was Yadkinville. We didn't have to sing at Forbush High School thankfully, so we didn't have to leave in the morning. We just got there in time to eat dinner and sing at the church. And what a concert it was. We got to "A Clear Midnight" (remember, just a few weeks ago, we recorded this for a production company) and we ended up in several different keys. Granted, it's 8 part harmony, a capella, but still...anyway, "The Conversion of Saul" wasn't much better, mainly because the altos and basses (yes, me too) couldn't find the tri-tone in the middle of the song. At least we ended up in the same key as everyone else, even though it was probably at least a whole step lower than it was supposed to be. SO...bad concert. We stayed the night in a hotel. Adam and I raided the Lowe's Foods across the street, and I got a picture of Alex Rowe being pushed around in a shopping cart by Philip Todd.
Next day (Saturday), we drove up to Maryland and visited the Antietam battlefield. I found it moderately interesting, as I like Civil War history. Some of the choir people held a mock battle out by the cannon (yes, that is plural). We then ate dinner at a mall, then went to the church in Hagarstown where Philip Todd and I met up with the guy we were going to stay with. He had an apartment. PT and I stayed up till about 2am talking...well, it was mostly him talking, which kind of surprised me, as I didn't peg him as the very talkative type, but I guess he's like me in that way: give me a chance, and I'll ramble your ears off. In the morning, we sang at that church, only 5 songs though, as it was their service, and they loved it. Definitely not a conservative church. It leans towards Pentacostal. Anyway, we left from there to go to Stoneville, NC, to sing another concert. This time, we sang all of our songs, and did well. Had dinner there at the church. Two of the girls in the choir (Angie and...crap, I can't remember her name) said they heard me during warm ups and said I sang really well. It's always nice to get unexpected compliments from unbiased people. Anywhat, we left from there, I talked to Adam some about what I talked to PT about the previous night. Got back to campus a little before midnight, got back into the dorms without the RD's assistance, and drove home on Monday morning. So ends part one of Spring Break.
Part two: Thursday. Alex, Drew and I have decided to visit Brian for his birthday. So, we make our way to Drew's house (which is pretty much as isolated as any other place I've ever been), and then headed up to Greenville. Got there, and we drove downtown to eat at Buffalo Wild Wings. Brian stole all of the silverware, lol. Walked around ECU for a bit, then drove to Hooters (where Brian works), had some dessert, met some of his people that were supposed to come by his apartment after they got off (yes, including a couple of Hooters girls), then we went back to drop Alex and Drew off at the apartment. Brian had convinced me to pick up a friend of his who would buy him alcohol. So, we did that, and came back to the apartment. Brian started drinking, smoked some pot, Alex smoked a cigar with him (don't worry, Alex doesn't smoke very often), watched "Crank" and "Addams Family Values", and then a couple of people showed up, but not several of the others (including the previously mentioned Hooters girls). Anyway, the guy (Micah) brought his PS2, and they played "God of War" for a while. Alex and I carved our nicknames (Skitso and Cyrus, respectively) into his coffee table, and then he poured lighter fluid over the carvings and burned them until the wood around them was black. Anywhat, about 6am, the two people have left, and we decide to sleep until 7am (Drew has been asleep since about midnight). Got up at 7am, packed up and left. Yes, I was driving on one hour of sleep. Stopped in Smithfield and switched with Alex (drew didn't have contacts or glasses, so he couldn't drive), and Alex drove the rest of the way. End of part two.
Part three begins right where part two left off. Megan showed up about 2:30pm-ish, and we left about 3:30pm for Raleigh. As agreed, I drove to Fuquay, and then Megan took over. We got to the church for the wedding rehearsal a little late, but the preacher didn't arrive until we did. They rehearsed, then we went to dinner at this Brazilian restaurant. They have this card system where you flip it from red to green if you want them to bring food to you. After the salad bar, they brought around many different kinds of meat on large skewers. Good stuff. Went back to the church to set up the fellowship hall for the reception. Then went to Nick's (the groom) apartment, and I stayed with him and the groomsmen. Talked to Duane some (very interesting person), we watch a couple of my movies: Kung Fu Hustle and Quidam. Got to bed around 3am, got up about 10am, Nick and the groomsmen left to get their tuxes, and I went with Z to Taco Bell and Borders to burn time until the wedding. I bought a Pearls Before Swine book...that thing is awesome. Anyways, the ceremony was short, thankfully, then we went to the reception. Rhone was there, so I sat at his table. Him, Z, myself, and another guy were asked by Megan (who was one of the bridesmaids) to "decorate" the car. SO, with very little time to do so, we grabbed some ribbons and bows that were decorating the sanctuary and taped/tied them to the car, and the other guy threw a bit of dirt on the top of the car just for the heck of it. We came back a few minutes later when we realized that we had more time, and taped several clear garbage bags to the back window, and wrote the traditional "Just Married" on there. Then Megan and I left for Fayetteville, where we stayed the night at my house, and left Sunday afternoon for Campbell. And that's the end of part three, the last part. Aren't you glad?
Anyway, I'm at work with a little under an hour to go. What shall I do with the rest of my time here? I'm probably going to go to bed early tonight. Definitely need the sleep.
